Roberta Y. Martin

Roberta Y. Martin, age 83, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born to Fred M. & Nellie N. (Saltzman) Marble on February 3, 1933 at Precept, Nebraska. Roberta grew up in the Precept area and attended school at Beaver City High School. She married Richard Martin on July 17, 1950 at the Christian Church in Beaver City. To this union five children were born, Fred, Leslie, Louella, Fabian, & Nancy. She attended nursing school in Denver, Colorado before moving to Oregon in 1963. They would move to Norton, Kansas in 1995. She worked as a nurse for 32 years. In November of 2010 she moved to Beaver City Manor because of health reasons. Quilting was one of her hobbies, she made over 100 quilts. Giving each grandchild one after their 3rd birthday. She would also make many of her kid’s clothes and made many Christmas ornaments for her family through the years. She attended Crossroads Church in Norton, Kansas, Topps Club in Norton, Kansas, SPPA of Almena, Kansas, and American Legion Auxiliary of Beaver City, Nebraska and a past member of the Full Gospel Church, Newburg, Oregon. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond, Royce, Fred Jr., and Ronald Marble, sister Rouene Mayo, son Leslie Leon Martin, and grandson Michael Wray. She is survived by her husband Richard Martin of Beaver City, Nebraska, son Fred & wife Rachel Martin of McMinnville, Oregon, daughters Louella and husband Sam McDaniel of San Ysidro, New Mexico, Fabian and husband Ron Baker of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Nancy and husband Ed Meyers of Plainville, Kansas, sisters Delores White of Lexington, Nebraska, and Vernita Bottger of Tekamah, Nebraska, 11 grandchildren, and numerous Great Grandchildren and several Great-Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10 AM at the Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Ron Scheimo, officiating. Interment will be at Deaver Cemetery, Stamford, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Beaver City Manor. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
