Rosemary M. Stagemeyer

Rosemary M. Stagemeyer, age 73, of Holbrook, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born on May 14, 1940 at Oxford, Nebraska to Chester & Thelma (Brown) Reid. Rosemary was baptized on February 12, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, Nebraska in May of 1963. She received her formal education at Beaver City High School and graduated with the class of 1958. She later attended Kearney State College where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics education. On July 21, 1963 she was united in marriage to Irlee Lewis Stagemeyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. To this union three children were born; Merrill, Brent, & Jeree’. Following their marriage, Irlee & Rosemary made their home in Ainsworth, Nebraska where they were both employed at Ainsworth Public Schools. In 1966 the couple moved to a farm in Frontier County before moving to the Stagemeyer homestead in 1967. This is where the couple made their living farming and raising cattle. In January of 1979, Rosemary was elected to serve as the County Superintendent of Schools for Gosper County. She continued to hold this position until her retirement from office in June 2000. She also worked at the long term care facilities in Arapahoe, McCook, & Elwood throughout the years. Rosemary stayed active in the Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and many friends. Rosemary and Irlee were proud supporters of agriculture and Future Farmers of America for many years. She was preceded in death by her mother Thelma, brother Marion Reid. mother & father-in-law Gustav & Irene Stagemeyer, brother & sister in law Merlin & Doris Stagemeyer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Irlee Stagemeyer of Holbrook, Nebraska Sons: Merrill & wife Sandra Stagemeyer of Cambridge, Nebraska Brent & wife Carla Stagemeyer of Page, Nebraska Daughter: Jeree’ & husband Brandon Holt of Lincoln, Nebraska 8 Grandchildren: Joel, Reid, & Jaclyn Stagemeyer of Cambridge, Nebraska, Miles, Jace, & Tucker Stagemeyer of Page, Nebraska, and Grady & Harper Holt of Lincoln, Nebraska Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE & American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating.
