Roy Lee Dawson

Roy Lee Dawson, age 59, of Edison, Nebraska passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at his home after a year long battle with cancer. He was born April 17, 1951 in McCook, Nebraska to Lowell and Lois (Hays) Dawson. He went to country school through eighth grade and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1969. Roy was united in marriage to Kathryn Schutz on May 7, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three children Renee, Aaron, and Kasi. He lived on Turkey Creek, north of Edison, Nebraska all his life. He and Kathryn raised their family there. Roy was a farmer and started a new career later in crop insurance. He was co-owner of Great Plains Crop Services in Bertrand, Nebraska. Roy loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to football Saturday and cheering on the Huskers. Roy enjoyed spending time on the golf course with friends, especially Thursday night golf league. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathryn Dawson of Edison, Nebraska Daughters: Renee & husband James Lighthall of Cozad, Nebraska Kasi Dawson of Edison, Nebraska Son: Aaron & wife Angela Dawson of Lincoln, Nebraska Grandchildren: 4 Sisters: Kay & husband Wayne Farr of Johnson Lake, Nebraska Karen & husband Stan Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska Brother: Richard & wife Barbara Dawson of Johnson Lake, Nebraska. & many family and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating.
