Steven J. Hosier was born on March 15, 1947, in Oxford, Nebraska, the fifth of five children, born to James and Samantha (Chapman) Hosier and passed away on February 8, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society - Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 24 days. He received education and graduated from Edison Public Schools in 1966. Steve united in marriage to Irene S. Jochem in 1967, who were high school sweethearts and happened to be the only two that graduated in their class. Following high school, Steve and Irene moved to Colorado so he could attend barber school. 

Following their union of marriage, three children were born; Dawn, Steve, and Jennifer. The couple moved to Oxford, NE in 1969 to raise their family back home shortly after Dawn was born. Steve was a very hard-worker supporting his family having many various jobs including: working at dairy farms, Burlington Northern Railroad, Mid Nebraska, custodian and bus driver at Oxford Public School, and then went to Southern Valley School until his retirement. 

Steve and Irene volunteered and took a great role in Granada Theatre where they enjoyed projecting movies, working concessions, and much more. He always enjoyed lending a helping hand, doing puzzles, playing cards, and going to auctions. Hunting and fishing were Steve’s favorite times, especially when his grandkids tagged along. He had a special bond with his granddaughter Kinzie; some of their most significant pastimes were collecting rocks and exploring the outdoors. 

Steven is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws. Sisters: Joyce Joedeman, husbands Dean Roberts and Henry; Carol Ann Quinn, husband George; Pat Johnson, husband Leroy. Nephew: Randy Karash. Granddaughter: Kinzie Irene Hall 

Steven is survived by his wife, Irene of Oxford; Sister Ronna Sparks of Evans, Colorado; Children and their spouses: Dawn and Pete Hopwood, Lincoln, Nebraska; Steve and Sally Hosier, Holdrege; Jennifer and Jeffrey Hall, Oxford. Grandchildren: Joseph and wife Jaymi Hopwood of Lincoln, Nebraska, Madalyn and husband Kevin Jones of Prospect, Connecticut, Tyler Hopwood of Chesapeake, Virginia, Charles and wife Ali Hosier of Oxford, Clayton and wife Desiree Hosier of Oxford, Juliann Hosier of Holdrege, and Tytus Hall of Oxford. Great-Grandchildren: Scarlett, Hunter and baby Hosier, Berkley and baby Hosier, Brayden, Connor and Duke Jones. As well as many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Steve will be remembered for his love for the outdoors, devotion to family, kind heart, and good humor always having a joke to tell.

Viewing and visitation will be one hour before the start of the funeral service. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Eric Souer, officiating. Everyone attending the service is encouraged to wear casual attire. Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Nebraska.
