Suzan Ilene Long, age 60, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital at Kearney, Nebraska. She was born December 13, 1950 at Norton, Kansas to Wesley & Maxine (Stalder) Bishop.
Suzan was a life long resident of Furnas County, Nebraska. She graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1969. She attended Cosmetology College at Holdrege, Nebraska following High School. She practiced at the Hair Shaft in Beaver City, Nebraska for 6 years. She married Alvah Long on June 11, 1971 at Beaver City, Nebraska. She operated a day care for 13 years at her home. She worked at the Beaver City Manor for a number of years also. She also spent 2 years working at the Beaver City Senior Center.
Family was very important to Suzan especially her five grandchildren, as well as her Church. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska. She taught Sunday School for over 30 years, also was Church janitor for several years. She taught sewing & cooking to local 4-H groups over the years. She was a member of United Presbyterian Women. She belonged to "For Better or For Worse" extension club of Beaver City. She enjoyed baking, reading, scrapbooking, quilting, sewing and tending her flower garden.
On November 2, 2004 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Suzan never complained through her countless surgeries, hospitalizations, and numerous rounds of chemo therapy. She will be remembered for her positive attitude and belief in God.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

2 Brothers: Duane Bishop & wife Lois of Beaver City, Nebraska

2 Sisters: Kathleen & husband Howard Schemper of Norton, Kansas
Becky & husband Chuck Talbott of Morrison, Oklahoma
Grandchildren: 5 (Nathan, Kristen and Madelyn Holcomb & Mackenna and Kolby Hunt)

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors Ivan & Joyce Dean, Officiating. Private inurnment will occur at a later day.
