Victor Perkins Polston, age 81, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on August 2, 2018 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born on January 29, 1937 in Walteria, California to James Sylvester and Gertrude (Heman) Polston. Vic attended elementary school in Walteria, and high school at Torrance High School, Torrance, California. Vic met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Lostlen in seventh grade. They attended junior high and high school together and were married November 25, 1953, at Community Methodist Church in Walteria. To this union, five children were born: Connie, Vicki, Tom, Linda, Terry. After working as a truck driver in California, Vic and Shirley decided to move to Arapahoe, Nebraska in June of 1962. Vic began farming with the help of his mother, Gertrude, and step-father, Floyd Warner. Milking cows was added to farming, and continued until 1975. Vic and Shirley enjoyed many years of trap shooting, traveling, hunting, camping, and fishing. Vic won many state and national trap shooting awards, most notably, recognition from the American Trap Shooting Association for 100,000 targets for Singles and 100,000 targets for Handicap. Vic was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, of Arapahoe, the Arapahoe Isaac Walton, American Trapshooting Association, and the McCook Gun Club. Preceding him in death were his parents: James and Gertrude; step-father, Floyd Warner; brothers: Floyd Polston, and Ed (Mary) Polston; and sisters: Florence (L.B.) Barrett, and Leona (Carl) Plunkett. Vic is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Polston, his children : Connie (Greg) Hill, Arapahoe Nebraska; Vicki (Terry) Haussler, Arapahoe, Nebraska; Tom (Kathy) Polston, Odessa, Texas; Linda (Russell) Tomky, Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Terry (Laurie) Polston, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Grandsons: Josh (Jill) Hill, Dustin (Jessy) Hill, Cody (Shayla) Hill, Trev Haussler, Brody Polston, Brandon Polston, and Nathan Stewart. Granddaughters: Misty (Brandie) Hill, Tori Haussler, Karissa (Tyler) Mayes, Cayla (Alex) Larkins, Carley Polston, and Sydni Tomky. Eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing and visitation will be Monday, August 6, 2018 from 2 PM till 8 PM with family present from 6 PM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main Street, Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Vic Polston Memorial Trap Shooting Scholarship, to be given annually to a local student; or to the Good Samaritan Society, Arapahoe NE.
