Vivian D. Collins

Vivian D. Collins, age 60, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Elwood Care Center of Elwood, Nebraska. She was born on March 12, 1956 in Lexington, Nebraska to Daniel & Dolores (Monter) Hoefs. Vivian grew up on a farm in northern Furnas County, Nebraska and graduated from Arapahoe City School in 1974. After graduation, she went on to Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska. She married Rick A. Collins in 1974 and to this union 2 sons were born; Justin and Ross. They made their home in Edison and later Arapahoe, Nebraska. She would work at various jobs in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, and participated in the church choir and hand bell choir. Vivian enjoyed cooking, reading, entertaining, and in the last years of her life, when her health significantly declined, sought comfort in watching her favorite movies and the companionship of her dog, Ernie, who was always by her side. Vivian is preceded in death by her father Daniel Hoefs. She is survived by her sons: Justin and wife Heather Collins, and their children Emma & Delaney of Elwood, Nebraska, Ross and wife Nicky Collins and their children Shaye & Ryley of Eustis, Nebraska. Brothers Larry & wife Connie Hoefs of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Mike and wife Pam Hoefs of Lincoln, Nebraska, her sister and best friend, Gloria & husband Mike Dawson of Smithfield, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Graveside service will be led by her cousin, Brad Hoefs, on October 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, north of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorial will be designated at a later date.
