H. Wayne McCoy, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at his home in Arapahoe, Nebraska from complications due to congestive heart failure. He was born on February 11, 1933 to Harley W. & Hazel (Elston) McCoy on the family farm 5 miles south of Arapahoe, Nebraska.
He graduated from the eighth grade at District #64 County School, and graduated in 1950 from Arapahoe High School. After graduation, he farmed with his father until he was drafted in the Army in April of 1953. He was in Korea from November of 1953 until March of 1955. he was promoted to Sergeant 1st Class and honorably discharge in March of 1955. After he came home from Korea, he began farming and raising cattle. He farmed until he was diagnosed with esophagus cancer in 1994. On November 26, 1980 he married Charlavee Markus in Arapahoe, Nebraska.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Junior Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post #96, all of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Named Farmer of the Year for the Arapahoe area. FSA Board member, Nebraska Corn Growers Board member, Arapahoe Coop Board member, & Furnas County Livestock Board member.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Beth Alayne, sister Arva Holloway, Brother-In-Laws: Kenneth Holloway & Lyle Roepke, Sister-In-Law Fritz McCoy, Mother-In-Law Beulah Kappas.
He is survived by his wife: Charlavee McCoy of Arapahoe, Nebraska

Andrew & wife Tracy McCoy of Lincoln, Nebraska
Ron & wife Janet Markus of West Monroe, Louisiana

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, November 20, from 1 PM till 8 PM and Friday, November 21, from 9 AM till 8 PM with family greeting the public from 5-7 PM, at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 22, at 10 AM at the First United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska, with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Military rites will be given by the American Legion Post #96 of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, of Arapahoe, Nebraska or the family wishes. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska will be in charge of the arrangements.
