Wiley L. Wentling, age 80, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Phelps Memorial Hospital, Holdrege, Nebraska. He was born on July 7, 1933 at Achilles, Kansas to William L. & Alma R. (Fox) Wentling.
Wiley graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1952. After high school he enlisted in the Army joining the 82nd airborne squad. While training in North Carolina, he married Carolyn Noel of Beaver City on October 29, 1953. After his honorable discharge in 1956, they came back to Nebraska. He would work for Bernard Sawyer at his service station in Beaver City in 1962. He worked as a driver’s examiner for several years before starting Wentling Construction. They would build several houses in Beaver City and the surrounding area during the 1970’s. In 1975 he had open heart surgery and would have to change jobs. He started working at Becton-Dickinson in 1980 and worked there for the next 18 years before retiring in 1998. He continued the construction business on the side by helping do smaller jobs for many people. Carolyn and Wiley also had a ceramic business “Clay Barn”, in which they sold many ceramic dolls and figurines.
Wiley enjoyed his hobbies of building and flying model airplanes, fishing, & turning wood on his lathe. Friends will remember his generosity in sharing his knowledge and skills. He enjoyed playing “Santa Claus” at Christmas time for many area families. He was a member of the Jaycees, Volunteer Fire Department, & Faith Community Church, all of Beaver City.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret Starne, Laura Simmons, LiLa Belle Wilber, Wilma Evans, Mary Wentling, & Sharon Fitch.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Wentling of Beaver City, Nebraska

5 Grandchildren: Trevor & Corey Marshall, Anthony & Nickolas Stolts, Chelby Lamb
7 Great Grandchildren: Kylee, Haley, Jacob, Colton, Courtnee, Ava, Hunter

Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Daryl Kats, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
