Wilmetta Evelyn Bonham, age 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska died Friday May 30, 2008 at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born February 19, 1913 at Edison, Nebraska to William and Leona (Neff) Arnold.
She grew up in Edison, Nebraska where she graduated from Edison High School with the class of 1931. Following graduation she was employed by the Edison Telephone Company. She married Robert Dale Bonham on December 27, 1932 at Beaver City, Nebraska. Wilmetta and Dale farmed north of Beaver City, later near Cambridge, west of Beaver City, Bloomington, Nebraska and returned to Beaver City in December of 1955, buying an acreage on the east edge of Beaver City where they resided till 1996, moving to a mobile home in Beaver City and then to the Beaver City Plaza then Beaver City Assisted Living & Manor. Her husband of 71 years died May 29, 2004. She moved to Lancaster Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska following Dale's death and resided their since.
She was employed at the Furnas County Treasurer's Office in 1955 and continued to work in the office for a number of years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska. She was active in Ladies Aid and Missionary group at the church as well as a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She was also a volunteer at the Beaver City Manor for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William (Bill) and Leona Arnold, husband Dale, Sister Dorothy Crozier, Great Granddaughter Jenny Slater.
Survivors include her four daughters: Shirley and husband Bud Slater of Hays, Kansas
Bertryl and husband Wayne Seybert of Longmont, Colorado
Judy and husband Dr. Larry Cass of Norwood, Minnesota
Bonnie Culver of Lincoln, Nebraska
Sister: Leola Lane of Yucca Valley, California
Grandchildren: 10 Great Grandchildren: 18 Great-Great Grandchildren: 3 ,plus several step grandchildren
Viewing and Visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2008, 9 AM until 8 PM and Tuesday 8 AM until 9 AM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Beaver City or Beaver City Manor & Assisted Living or the donors choice.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 10 AM at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Phil Olsen, of the First Christian Church of Beaver City, officiating.
